Founded in 2014, the Thornton Heath Community Action Team is a group of residents and business who aim to deliver area improving projects. They are working with the local community to make Thornton Heath an area that its residents can be proud of, and people want to be a part of! There is also a series of regenerative projects taking place over the next three years working to make Thornton Heath a more attractive and safer environment.

Thornton Heath was also awarded The New Homes Bonus Grant which supports local people into local jobs. The local council are further working to improve the perception of Thornton Heath by installing local artwork around the town.

Thornton Heath’s architecture is predominantly Victorian. Two prime examples of this are St Alban’s Anglican Church and St Paul’s Church. St Alban’s Church was built in 1889 and is now a Grade II listed building, it was the first church designed by late Victorian architect Sir Ninian Comper. Another interesting feature of Thornton Heath is the Clocktower. It is located on the junction of the high street and Parchmore Road and was financed partially by public funds in 1990.
