Activities and Entertainment in Streatham

Green space is one of Streatham’s greatest assets. Streatham Common is a well-tended, protected conservation area and has a lovely terraced garden. Also The Rookery is a nearby beautifully landscaped garden. Streatham Common provides an attractive background for the summer theatre. Both Streatham Common and the nearby Tooting Bec Common provide local residents with sports facilities for tennis, bowling and horse riding. Tooting Bec also has a Lido and an athletics track. Currently there is lots of regeneration planned for Streatham including The London Square development which is working to restore the façade of the old Mega Bowl. Another part of the Streatham Hill development is the commission of a new theatre which will be run by ThinkTank and led by director Andy McKeane.

Transport links in and around Streatham
Streatham’s proximity to London has always made it a popular location for commuters. The three railway stations Streatham, Streatham Common and Streatham Hill (Travelcard Zone 3) mean you’re only 15 minutes from Victoria Station and 20 minutes from London Bridge. There are also frequent trains which will take you in the opposite direction to Surrey.
Streatham has fantastic bus routes and is the busiest London linked bus route after Oxford Street. There is a 24 hour service which runs to Brixton underground station – which on weekends also operates a 24 hour service. Streatham High Road is located on the A23 which will ultimately take you to Brighton, but is also an excellent link into London.
