Egham is a small commuter town in Runnymede Surrey, its existence predates 666AD and it appeared in the Domesday Book of 1086.
Today, Egham is part of the London commuter belt and is a popular residential location due to its excellent transport links and affordable housing. Famously, Egham played host to the Olympic Torch relay for the London 2012 Olympics.

If you are looking for family friendly fun, Egham Leisure Centre, Achieve Lifestyle, alongside being a great gym, hosts a range of sports clubs and facilities. It also runs birthday parties and has a crèche.
There is an abundance of green space in and around Egham, such as Windsor Great Park and Virginia Water Lakes. There are also several parks and children’s play areas such as the Lammas Recreation Park and Runnymede Pleasure Grounds. Together these spaces provide some lovely recreational areas to enjoy on a summer’s afternoon, but are also well worth a visit on a frosty day to fully appreciate their beauty. Alongside its many different walking trails, Windsor Great Park also offers lots of different cycling and horse-riding routes through the park. For thrill seekers, Thorpe Park is located to the south of Egham and provides a wide variety of rides and attractions for the whole family.
The parking in Egham is cheap and conveniently situated either side of the High Street and next to the train station. Also within close proximity to the station is a new Travelodge, found in the centre of town. Other hotels in Egham include the Runnymede on Thames Hotel which offers beautiful riverside accommodation.
Culture in Egham
Historically, Egham is near the site of the signing of The Magna Carta sealed in 1215 in Runnymede. There is a memorial at the foot of Coopers Hill to commemorate this. Today Egham is famous for being one of the sites featured in the 2012 Olympic Torch Relay.
Looking to the future, Runnymede Borough Council is poised to be working with Places for People on a new leisure centre in Egham which will include a swimming pool and a health spa.

For road users, Egham is minutes away from the M25 from where you can travel into London or down to the South Coast. Egham is also well connected for those needing to access the airport, with Heathrow airport just two junctions of the M25 away. Egham is also conveniently located for the A30 which provides access in and around Surrey. There are also several bus routes in and around the town meaning locals are well connected to all amenities.
Egham has a mainline train station which has regular trains running to Reading and London Waterloo with travel times taking approximately 30 to 45 minutes.
