Mortgages

Q. Why should I use a dot adviser instead of going direct to my bank?
A. dot advisers have access to the whole of the market whereas your bank can only advise on their own product range.

Q. What other costs are involved in moving?
A. We have a cost of moving sheet and monthly budget planner available to download which will give you a rough idea. However to get the complete picture we would want to sit down with you and prepare a budget planner specifically tailored to your situation.

Q.How much can I borrow and what will the repayments be?
A. Visit our “How much can I borrow page” for more information about this.

Q. What is a mortgage agreement in principal?
A. A mortgage agreement in principal is a provisional lending decision and sets out what a lender will probably be willing to lend you based on certain terms and conditions. This can be helpful when you’ve chosen your mortgage and are ready to make an offer on a property. Providing you proceed with the lender that provides the AIP, it can also help speed up the mortgage application process as much of the work has already been done.

Q. Where can I meet a dot adviser?
Our advisers are very flexible and can meet you in any Townends branch or even in your home if that’s more suitable

Q. You say you are flexible on appointment times, what does that mean?
A. Exactly that, though we try and have a rest day on Sunday. Early morning, late evening, we’ll fit in around you.

Q. I’ve booked an appointment with a dot advisor, what do I need to bring with me
A. Just yourself is fine but it would help if you could also bring the following items with you:
Your last 3 payslips & bank statements
Your latest mortgage statement (if applicable)
Details of any loans, credit/store cards or regular maintenance payments
Details of any current protection policies

Q. Do I have to buy the property through Townends to use dot?
A. dot can arrange your mortgage for you whichever estate agent you end up buying through.

Q. How do you know so much about buy to let mortgages?
A. With the number of Landlords Townends have on their books, it has always been an area we have focused on.

Q. I am porting my existing mortgage, can you help?
A. Absolutely, we’ll take care of it for you and also confirm it’s the right thing to do.
