With Twickenham as a neighbouring town, Whitton provides an ideal location for families needing more space and investment buyers needing affordable second homes within easy reach of Waterloo.

Whitton is well serviced by public transport including buses and trains. Being only approx 30 mins from Waterloo, and with trains running on average four times an hour during peak time, this is a great area for commuters. The station falls into Zone 5.

Located north of the A316, 1 mile west of Twickenham and 3 miles west of Richmond, Whitton provides direct access to the M3/M25, with Heathrow only 12 miles away (approx 30 mins by car). With its great transport links, Whitton is well placed to visit some of London’s Royal Parks, the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, Hampton Court Palace and enjoy walks along some beautiful stretches of the River Thames.

Whitton is a fun and safe area to live. With more of a village feel, there is a great sense of community and a friendly atmosphere. It has a good selection of locally owned shops and businesses, including many food/drink outlets and an award winning butcher.

The area positively embraces its community with a variety of youth groups, schools, churches and community groups. The community is currently all united together twice a year by the Whitton Business Association who hold a “Christmas Extravaganza” event in November and a St.George’s Day Parade and Fun Day in April on the main High Street. It is also the catchment area for many excellent schools including the outstanding Waldgrave School for girls – one of the best state schools in the country.

Whitton is one of the most affordable towns in the Borough of Richmond and a popular residential suburb for tenants and buyers. Comprising mainly of well proportioned 1930’s semi detached family houses, this once rural location became home to many families after Whitton train station opened in 1931.

Whitton's history began with Market Gardens, more famously known as the cabbage patch and was renowned for flowers, apple, plum and pear orchards. In 1907 the cabbage patch was bought by Billy Williams and was successfully developed into a rugby ground. Today, Twickenham Rugby Ground on Whitton Road is the home of English Rugby.

Another key landmark in Whitton is Kneller Hall, currently occupied by the Royal Military School of Music and once a stately home taking its name from Sir Godfrey Kneller who purchased the original Manor House. In the summer, Kneller Hall opens its gates to the public for summer concerts. This provides some wonderful entertainment and the opportunity for concert-goers to bring along their picnics whilst enjoying music performed by the Military School.
