Shopping in Mitcham can be a little limited but the retail centre at nearby Colliers Wood provides all of the usual High Street shops. Every summer Mitcham Fair, dating back to the seventeenth century, takes place along with a carnival. Mitcham also benefits from a good selection of primary and high schools.

Transport wise, Mitcham is located in zones 3 and 4. The newest train station is Mitcham Eastfield which can get you into central London within 20 minutes. Mitcham also has a train station alongside the tram which will take you into Wimbledon or Croydon within minutes and is on numerous bus routes. Road users enjoy easy access to the M23 to Gatwick and the M25 for Heathrow.
